8 arrested on drug-related indictments

Eight people were arrested on Saturday in connection with an undercover drug operation conducted by the Van Wert Police Department within the city over the past several months.

Those arrested and the charges they were indicted on are as follows:

Vicki D. Young, 57, of 816 W. Main St., was indicted on one count each of aggravated trafficking in drugs (second-degree felony), possession of heroin (F-5) and trafficking in heroin (F-4).

Tyler J. Torrey, 20, of 6847 Lincoln Highway, Convoy, two counts of trafficking in drugs (F-4, F-5), and one count of trafficking in marijuana (F-4).

Nicole Raines, 32, of 233 Thistlewood Court, Apt. 149, two counts of trafficking in drugs, both felonies of the fourth degree.

Christopher L. Day, 39, of 519 E. Crawford St., one count each of possession of cocaine and possession of drugs, both felonies of the fifth degree.

Mack A. Johnson Jr., 18, of 301 N. Market St., aggravated possession of drugs (F-5).

Scott Spry, 35, of 457 Dickinson Ave., two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs (both F-3s) and one count of aggravated possession of drugs (F-5).

Ashley L. Gentry, 30, of 9743 Van Wert-Willshire Road, two counts of trafficking in heroin (F-4, F-5) and one count of possession of heroin (F-5).

Ronald J. Cobb, 22, of 108 Spencer Drive, one count of corrupting a minor with drugs (F-3).

The arrests came on indictments handed down by the November session of the Van Wert County Grand Jury this past Friday.

On Saturday, city police teamed up with the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol and began arresting those listed above. Others may yet be arrested prior to arraignments being held this coming Wednesday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

All of those arrested are currently being held without bond in the Van Wert County Correctional Facility.
