Ft. Recovery teacher faces sex charge

Mercer County information

CELINA Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced Wednesday the arrest of a Fort Recovery High School teacher for sexual battery, a felony of the third degree.  Arrested was Christopher A. Summers, 32, of St. Henry. Summers is an accounting teacher and former girls’ junior varsity basketball coach.

The sheriff’s department was contacted Monday at approximately 3 p.m. by the victim and her family. The investigation revealed that Summers knew the victim from school and began a relationship that lasted nearly three years.

The alleged criminal conduct occurred at Summers’ residence and at a hotel in a neighboring county.  The sheriff’s department applied for, and received, a search warrant on Tuesday afternoon to search Summers’ residence, and computers, cameras, and other electronic equipment were seized.

“We have no reason to believe, at this point, that any of the criminal conduct occurred during school events or on school property,” stated Sheriff Grey. “Fort Recovery Schools has cooperated fully and without hesitation.”

The investigation is continuing and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case to determine if additional charges should be filed.

“At this point in the investigation, we know of no other victims and no other information is being released,” stated Sheriff Grey.
