Cougar bowlers down New Bremen

UNION CITY – The Cougar bowlers rolled well in Union City in a hard fought match against the New Bremen Cardinals on Thursday.

The Van Wert team started the day down by a mere 11 pins; however, the Cardinals could not continue to stay with the Cougar squad, which took a 73-pin lead after the second regular game.

In the baker games, it was all Cougars, who gained pins in each of the games to win on the day by 178 pins.

High scores for the Cougars were rolled by Jordan Dettrow, 209 and 170; Alex Unterbrink, 188 and 170; and Chris Thatcher, 186.

Van Wert remains in a two-way tie with Versailles for the league lead and will roll this Saturday, January 8, in St. Marys in a dual match against both the Tigers and the Celina Bulldogs (4-3).
