Cougar swimmers down Ayersville

AYERSVILLE – The Van Wert High School boys’ and girls’ swim teams traveled to Ayersville High School to compete in a dual meet. Both Cougar teams defeated Ayersville, the girls by a score of 86-70 and the boys, 105-48.

Individual Van Wert swimmers placing first overall included Adam Saylor (200-yard and 100-yard freestyles), Cody Hanes (200-yard individual medley), Rebecca Johnson (100-yard butterfly), Taylor Grooms (100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke), Erin Dingle (500-yard freestyle), and Vincent Silette (100-yard backstroke).

First-place relays were the boys’ 200-yard medley (Hanes, Trey Stemen, Eric Easley, Adam Saylor), the girls 200-yard medley (Brittany Jurczyk, Alex Czajkowski, Dingle, Grooms), the boys 200-yard freestyle (Hanes, Stemen, Vincent Silette, Saylor), the girls’ 400-yard freestyle (Jurczyk, Linzey Rice, Dingle, Johnson), and the boys’ 400-yard freestyle (Saylor, Kase Schalois, Nathan Profit, Stemen).
