Ernestine Ellen Springer

Ernestine Ellen Springer, 97, of rural Van Wert, died at 4:24 a.m. Wednesday, January 12, 2011, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

She was born January 27, 1913, in Blue Creek Township, Paulding County, the daughter of the late Warren Mangus and Ada Caroline (Hofacker) Goble. On May 28, 1938, she married Meredith Audley Springer, who preceded her in death on November 5, 2009.

Survivors include two daughters, Audrey Ellen McClure and Susan (Dennis) Norman, both of Van Wert; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Luard of Michigan; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

A son, Rex Audley Springer; one son-in-law, Robert L. McClure; a brother, Don H. Goble; three sisters, Lois Carol Bark, Mable Edith Goins and Eileen Pearl Goble; and a great-great-grandson, Nathaniel Robert Wilder; also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 15, at Calvary Evangelical Church in Van Wert, with Pastor Raymond E. Feeck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-7 p.m. Friday, January 14, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.

Preferred memorials: Calvary Evangelical Church or Gideons International.
