The first Grade students at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic School recently participated in the Buckeye Youth "Safe and Secure" safety program. As a part of that curriculum, students were taught bicycle safety rules and tips. These lucky students were also drawn as the winners of free bicycle helmets presented by Buckeye Youth Safe and Secure teacher Deb Kleinhenz. The bicycle helmets were purchased with a grant from The Van Wert County Foundation to be distributed to area children. Shown in the photo is Mary Yackey with her happy first grade students and their bicycle helmets. Buckeye Youth is a United Way agency. (Buckeye Youth photo)
