Cougar boy bowlers fall to Coldwater

OTTAWA – The Van Wert boys’ bowling team traveled to Ottawa to roll against the Coldwater Cavaliers, both teams coming into the day with a record of 9-2.

The Cougars found themselves behind early on to the Cavs by 106 pins, a big deficit to overcome. However, in the baker games, the Cougars could not gain much of a pin count until the later games, cutting into the deficit by 70 pins, but still losing by just 18 pins at the end.

High scores for Van Wert were Nate Simson, 217; Christ Thatcher, 198; Luke Riley, 196; Trent Metzger, 189; and Alex Unterbrink, 186.

With the loss, the Cougars drop to 9-3 on the season and will travel to Coldwater next Saturday to roll against the St. Marys Roughriders, who are also 9-3 on the season.
