YMCA Marlins compete in 3 meets

The Van Wert YMCA Marlins have competed in three meets since the holiday break and fared well in all of them. On January 8, five team members traveled to Marion to swim in the Marion County YMCA Pentathlon. The meet awarded both individual event competition, plus an overall winner (based on combined times) in each age division. Emma Pollock finished fourth overall in the Girls 8 & Under division while Addison Henkaline finished third in the Girls 9-10 Division.

On January 15, the Marlins hosted and swept a tri-meet against Hardin County and Marion County.  Winning first place in all of their individual events were Addison Henkaline (3), Katie McVaigh (3), Sam Easley (5) and Evan Stant (4). Also placing first were Emma Pollock (4), Andrew Henkaline (1), Daniel Miller (1), Robert Germann (1), Alek Bowersock (1), Austin Lucas (1) and Paige Lucas (3). On January 22, the Marlins traveled to Kenton for the Hardin County Invitational. Addison Henkaline finished first in the 50 butterfly and 50 backstroke while Emma Pollock won the 25 backstroke.  Below are the detailed results from all three meets.

• VW Marlins @ Marion County Pentathlon (Yards):
• 8 & Under Girls: Emma Pollock – 4^th 25 Freestyle, 3^rd 25 Butterfly, 5^th 25 Backstroke, 5^th 25 Breaststroke, 3^rd 100 IM and 4^th overall.
• 9-10 Girls: Risa Pollock – 10^th 50 Freestyle,  11^th 50 Butterfly, 8^th 50 Backstroke, 9^th 50 Breaststroke and 9^th overall.
• Addison Henkaline – 1^st 50 Freestyle, 2^nd 50 Butterfly, 1^st 50 Backstroke, 3^rd 50 Breaststroke, 5^th 100 IM and 3^rd overall.
• 9-10 Boys: Aaron Stant – 6^th 50 Freestyle, 1^st 50 Butterfly, 1^st 100 Backstroke, 5^th 100 IM, 14^th 100 IM.
• 11-12 Girls: Anna Henkaline – 17^th 50 Freestyle, 16^th 50 Butterfly, 12^th 50 Backstroke, 11^th 50 Breaststroke, 14^th 100 IM and 14^th overall.
• Relays: Girls Open 200 Medley Relay – 4^th Place (Emma Pollock, Anna Henkaline, Addison Henkaline, Risa Pollock).

• 8 & Under Girls: Emma Pollock – 2^nd 50 Breaststroke and 50 Freestyle; 1^st 400 Freestyle, 25 Freestyle and 25 Butterfly. Elizabeth Germann – 3^rd 25 Backstroke, 5^th 25 Freestyle and 6^th 50 Freestyle.
• 8 & Under Boys: Andrew Henkaline – 2^nd 25 Butterfly and 50 Freestyle; 1^st 25 Freestyle and 25 Backstroke. Erin Miller – 3^rd in 50 Fly, 100 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke. Kathryn Wray – 4^th 200 Freestyle and 50 Freestyle; 5^th 50 Backstroke and 7^th 50 Breaststroke.

• 11-12 Girls: Bethany Fast – 2^nd 400 Freestyle; 3^rd 50 Fly; 5^th 50 Breaststroke and 50 Freestyle; 6^th 50 Backstroke. Anna Henkaline – 3^rd 200 Freestyle; 6^th 100 IM and 6^th 50 Breaststroke; 7^th 50 Freestyle; 8^th 100 Freestyle.
• 11-12 Boys: Austin Lucas – 1^st 200 Freestyle; 2^nd 50 Freestyle, 50 Breaststroke, 50 Fly and 50 Backstroke. Sam Easley – 1^st in the 100 IM, 50 Freestyle, 50 Fly, 100 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke.
• 13-14 Girls: Paige Lucas – 1^st 100 Freestyle, 200 Freestyle and 100 Fly; 2^nd 100 Breaststroke and 50 Freestyle.  Hannah Stemen – 2^nd 200 Freestyle, 200 IM, 100 Backstroke and 400 Freestyle; 3^rd 50 Freestyle.
• 15 & Over Boys: Evan Stant – 1^st in 200 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle, 400 Fly and 100 Freestyle.
• Relays: 9-10 Girls 200 Medley and 200 Freestyle team (Erin Miller, Risa Pollock, Addison Henkaline, Katie McVaigh) finished 1^st.
• 9-10 Boys 200 Freestyle team (Aaron Stant, Robert German, Andrew Henkaline, Alek Bowersock) finished 1^st.
