Rita T. Scherger

Rita T. Scherger, 92, of Delphos, died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday, January 29, 2011, at Vancrest Assisted Living of Delphos.

She was born August 2, 1918, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Otto and Leone (Wulfhorst) Stallkamp. On January 11, 1940, she married Elmer Scherger, who preceded her in death on December 2, 2008.

Survivors include three sons, Dick (Bobbi) Scherger and Dr. Bill (Lori) Scherger, both of Lima, and Dr. Joe (Carol) Scherger of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Janet (Jim) Coppola of Marblehead, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Catherine Burger and Margaret VonLehmden, also preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 5, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Delphos.

Calling hours are from 4-7:30 p.m. Friday, February 4, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake will be held at 7:3o that evening.
