Cathleen Y. Monroe

Cathleen Y. Monroe, 59, of Paulding, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at Community Health Professionals’ Defiance Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born October 21, 1951, in Celina, the daughter of Richard Hartwig, who survives in New Bremen, and the late Helen (Shadrach) Hartwig. On December 12, 1976, she married Walter E. Monroe, who preceded her in death on January 31, 2005.

Other survivors include three brothers, Terry (Joyce) Shadrach of Hicksville, Tommy (Joyce) Higgs of Harlan, Ind., and Travis Hartwig of New Bremen; two sisters, Joni (Dan) Decator of Archbold and Jennifer (Ron) Jones of Defiance; and many nieces and nephews.

Her stepfather, David Higgs, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 5, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, with Pastor Ron Hofacker officiating. Burial will be in Wiltsie Cemetery in Payne.

Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Friday, February 4, and an hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
