Robert A. Arnzen

Robert A. Arnzen, 83, of Delphos, died at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born March 29, 1927, in Newport, Ky., the son of the late Harry and Mary (Troy) Arnzen. On August 7, 1954, he married Alice (Beining) Arnzen, who survives in Delphos.

Other survivors include two sons, Jim Arnzen of Portsmouth and Ted Arnzen of Cincinnati; three daughters, Elaine (Pat) Sheehan of Toledo and Maria Arnzen and Jeanne (Jim) Glick, both of Cincinnati; a sister, Margaret Ann (Larry) Maschmeyer of Covington, Ky.; and nine grandchildren.

Two brothers, Harry and Bill Arnzen; two sisters-in-law, Rosemary Arnzen Beiting and Mildred Beckman; and five brothers-in-law, Elmer Beckman, Dick Kimmet, Rudy Beining, Betty Beining and Al Schmitz, also preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, February 7, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Jacob Gordon officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Delphos.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Sunday, February 6, at Robert A. Arnzen Gymnasium at Delphos St. John’s High School and from 9-10 a.m. Monday at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos. There will be a parish wake at 3 p.m. Sunday in the gym, with a Knights of Columbus service to follow at 3:30 that afternoon.

Preferred memorials: Delphos Stadium Fund or Delphos St. John’s Teacher Endowment Fund.
