Vondale Taylor

Vondale Taylor, 89, of Seymour, Tenn., and formerly of Van Wert, died Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at the Fort Sanders Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn.

He was born April 16, 1921, in Cavett, the son of the late Rollo and Grace (Miller) Taylor. On June 28, 1942, he married Marjorie Marie (Dunlap) Taylor, who preceded him in death on April 26, 2008.

Survivors include three children, Eric (Cathy) Taylor of Van Wert, Karen (John) Lippi of Knoxville, Tenn., and Janell (Gary) Dicke of Seymour, Tenn.; a sister, Lillian Saam of Van Wert; four grandchildren; a stepgranddaughter; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Eight brothers, Clyde, Benjamin, James, William, Virgil and Raymond Taylor, as well as two brothers, Eugene and Welcome Taylor, in infancy; and four sisters, Mable Lee, Ethel Tyas, Betty Routt and Lois Williamson, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 20, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery in rural Van Wert County, with graveside military rites performed by the combined honors units of American Legion Post 178 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5803, both in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, February 19, at the funeral home.
