‘Friend of Education’ winners honored

The Van Wert Federation of Teachers honored five very special members of the Van Wert community on Friday night.

Each year the VWFT gives out “Friend of Education Awards” to individuals who volunteer their time to support the Van Wert City School District. The recipients of this year’s awards are DARE Officers Greg Blackmore and Keith Allen, Sandi Agler, Bonnie Jones, and Linda Bagley.

Agler, Jones, and Bagley have all been volunteers at Washington Elementary School tutoring kindergarten students in Bev Fortney’s class.

All three women have volunteered countless hours to help make sure all of the kindergarten students get a great start to their education.

DARE Officers Blackmore and Allen have committed their lives to working with the young people of the Van Wert community. The two dedicated officers have always gone above and beyond the call of duty in running a first rate DARE program to help Van Wert youngsters make the right decisions in life.

This year’s award winners received a certificate as well as a gift from the VWFT.
