Congressman announces art competition
BOWLING GREEN – U.S. Representative Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) announces the 2011 Congressional Art Competition. The competition is open to all high school students who reside in the Fifth Congressional District.
“The Congressional Art Competition is an excellent opportunity for high school students to showcase their artistic ability,” Latta said. “I look forward to seeing our district’s creative talent represented in our Congressional hallway.”
The artwork must be submitted by Friday, March 25, to one of Latta’s three district offices.The offices are located at 1045 N. Main Street, Suite 6, Bowling Green; 101 Clinton Street, Suite 1200, Defiance; and 11 E. Main St., Norwalk.
Winners will be announced on Saturday, April 16, at Owens Community College’s Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Walter E. Terhune Gallery. The selected artwork will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol from June 2011 to June 2012.
Artwork categories are as follows:
- Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.
- Drawings: pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, markers
- Collage: must be two dimensional
- Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints
- Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, etc.
- Computer generated art
- Photography
