The driver of this pickup truck got a scare, but walked away with little more than cuts and bruises following a one-vehicle accident on U.S. 127 early this morning. The driver, who apparently fell asleep while southbound on U.S. 127, north of Wetzel Road, first clipped off a utility pole and then hit a tree, which stopped the vehicle. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt according to investigating troopers from the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, then was able to get out of the vehicle before it caught on fire. Scott Fire Department and EMS were also at the scene, as well as the Van Wert County Sheriff's Department. (Dave Mosier/Van Wert independent)
