Hirschy helps WBL win wrestling match

DELPHOS — Local wrestler Cory Hirschy represented Van Wert well at the Lima Area Wrestling Coaches All-Star Meet held Wednesday  at Delphos St. Johns High School.  The Cougar wrestler won his match at 189 pounds over David Gremling of Lima Central Catholic to help the Western Buckeye League team defeat the Independent team by a score of 42-35.  Full results are as follows:

• 103 pounds – John Martin of Wapak defeated Reese Kaiser of Coldwater 17-2 tech fall, team score 5-0
• 112 pounds – Trace Plaugher of Shawnee defeated Joe Stahl of Wayne Trace 10-3, team score 8-0
• 119 pounds – Austin Arbogast of Elida lost to Brandon McCormick of Lima Central Catholic 0-2, team score 8-3
• 125 pounds – Collin McDermitt of Shawnee won 7-4 over Dustin Brinkman of Bluffton, team score 11-3
• 125 pounds – Braeden Miller of St. Marys lost to Jeremy Post of Coldwater 2-4, team score 11-6
• 130 pounds – Nate Valentine of Wapak won a 2-0 overtime match over Colt Lovejoy of Allen East, team score 14-6
• 130 pounds – Tanner Zizelman of St. Marys lost 4-5 to Aaron Merschman of Delphos St. Johns, team score 14-9
• 135 pounds – Curtis Donor of Celina won 2-1 over Kameron Klemons of Wayne Trace, team score 17-9
• 140 pounds – Zach Cozadd of Celina lost 0-9 to Ryan Musser of Delphos St. Johns, team score 17-13.

An intermission was held and the WBL Coaches Jason Rostorfer and Kevin Bowers as well as Independent Coaches Pat Murphy and George Clemens were recognized.  The Assistant Coach of the Year was Justin Shannon of Bluffton and the Coach of the Year was Rostorfer of Wapakoneta.  Continuing the match,

• 140 pounds Tommy Mault of Lima Bath and Zach Wilson of Bluffton tied 2-2 after no score in overtime, team score 20-16
• 145 pounds – Jadyn Trent of Shawnee lost 0-4 to Logan Looser of Delphos St. Johns, team score 20-19
• 152 pounds – Ian Dukehart of Elida lost 0-8 to Grant Dues of Allen East, team score 20-23
• 160 pounds – Jeff Siefker of Ottawa-Glandorf lost 5-6 to J. R. Conyers of Allen East, team score 20-26
• 171 pounds – Jeremy Chandler of Lima Bath was pinned by Cody Lovejoy of Allen East, team score 20-32
• 189 pounds – CORY HIRSCHY of Van Wert won by pin against David Gremling of Lima Central Catholic, team score 26-32
• 189 pounds – Wyatt Karhoff of Ottawa Glandorf won by pin over Logan Heiing of Delphos St. Johns, team score 32-32
• 215 pounds – Logan Erb of Wapak won by pin over Cody Homan of Coldwater, team score 38-32
• 215 pounds – Logan Kiracoff of Lima Bath won 10-1 over Ben Moser of Bluffton, team score 42-32
• 285 pounds – Brad Fleck of Wapak lost 0-2 to Greg Martin of Columbus Grove, final score 42-35

In an exhibition match at 145 pounds, Cody Hahn of Lima Central Catholic defeated Merschman of Delphos 3-2.
