C’view NHS sets 2nd blood drive

For the first time ever the Crestview National Honor Society, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will be sponsoring a second blood drive this year at Crestview. The American Red Cross has had a number of drives canceled this year and is in desperate need of donors. Because of the outstanding success of this year’s first drive, the Red Cross has asked Crestview to step up to the plate again, and the Crestview NHS has responded. Much like the first drive, the Red Cross will again offer Crestview a $500 scholarship to award to a graduating senior if the drive goal of 50 units is obtained. The drive will be held in the Crestview High School Gymnasium on Friday, April 8. Students may donate from 9 a.m. until noon and the public may donate from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Any community member interested in giving blood should contact a Crestview NHS member or NHS Advisor Keith Langdon at the high school. Shown above are members of the Crestview student body and community waiting to give blood at the first American Red Cross Blood Drive held at Crestview in January of this year. A total of 126 units of blood were donated during the drive. Over the past 12 years, the Crestview community has given over 1,240 units of blood. (Crestview photo)
