Elections Board issues voter information

The Van Wert County Board of Elections reminds voters that the upcoming May primary election is to nominate candidates for the next general election, and that only Republican candidates will be on the ballot on May 3, since no Democrats are opposed or running for a particular position.

Van Wert city and Delphos city voters will vote for candidates for a number of city elected offices, while all county voters will be voting for the Republican nomination for Van Wert Municipal Court judge.

Registered voters with affiliations to any other party may call the Elections Office at 419.238.4192 with any questions.

Also, voters are reminded that they need to bring a valid form of identification with them when they vote in the primary election. Valid forms of ID include the following:

  • A current and valid photo identification (Ohio driver’s license, state or other government ID)
  • Military ID
  • Utility bill
  • Bank statement
  • Government check
  • Paycheck
  • Other government document (issued by a government office)
  • Identification documents must contain a voter’s correct name and current address.

If a voter cannot provide any of the above forms of identification, they will be permitted to vote a provisional ballot.

For more information, call the Elections Office at the above number.
