Gretna L. Stevens

Gretna L. Stevens, 68, of Van Wert, died at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at Lima Memorial Hospital.

She was born October 18, 1942, in Van Wert, the daughter of the late John and Esther (Cox) Dempsey. On July 17, 1962, she married Donald W. Stevens, who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include three children, Melanie (Thomas) Norman, Christie (Keith) Ridenour and Vanessa Stevens, all of Van Wert; two brothers, Maurice (Mary Ellen) Dempsey of Virginia Beach, Va., and Donald (Sue) Dempsey of Convoy; four sisters, Beverly (Larry) Schoonover of Lakeland, Fla., Saundra Schwinnen of Montpelier, Linda (Terry) Neer of Paulding and Johnette Waltmire of Van Wert; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Three sisters, Helen Osting, Nellie Schabbing and Mary Dempsey, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home in Van Wert.

Calling hours are from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
