Special Olympics sets pork chop dinner

Van Wert County Special Olympics is once again having a pork chop dinner on Tuesday, May 10, from 4-6 p.m.  The menu consists of pork chop, baked potato, green beans, roll and cookies.  The cost of the meal is $7.

This is a presale event only, with ticket sales running until Tuesday, May 3. Tickets can be purchased at Derry Drugs in Van Wert, Secret Garden Floral and Gifts in Convoy, or by contacting Brad Etter at 419.238.1514, extension 232.  Meals are for carryout only and can be picked up at the Thomas Edison Workshop from 4-6 p.m. on May 10.

All proceeds are used to support Van Wert County Special Olympic athletes as they participate in team and individual skills events. Special Olympics athletes in Van Wert County participate in basketball (team and individual skills), softball (team and individual skills), track and field, boccé, bowling and swimming.

A special “thank you” goes out to the Van Wert Professional Fire Fighters local 681 for cooking the pork chops, Derry Drugs and Secret Garden Floral and Gifts for selling tickets, The Pitt Stop for its past donation of potatoes, and Burcham Printing for its donation of signs and tickets.
