Community meeting set in Rockford

ROCKFORD — Do you live in Rockford?  Work or have a business in Rockford?  Visit Shanes Park? Shop in Rockford businesses? Have children in Parkway Local Schools? Do you own property in the Rockford area?

Any of the above people are invited by the Rockford Area Development Corporation to come to a meeting Monday, April 25, and learn how the RADC has been working to improve the quality and enjoyment of life in northern Mercer County for the past five years.

Those who attend will not only learn of the RADC’s work and accomplishments, but will also get to enjoy tasty refreshments, including a piece of Dr. Jerry Sell’s legendary Texas sheet cake (which is officially being renamed “Rockford sheet cake” for this one evening). Activities start at the Rockford Village Hall and Museum at 7 p.m.

The new splash pad in Shane’s Park will be ready for lots of fun by the beginning of summer and is the biggest project that the RADC has helped coordinate, but the organization has also been active in many other community activities, advisory sessions, and work with infrastructure, utilities, business attraction, and more.

The development corporation, as well as good schools, a good library, an active Chamber of Commerce, a seasoned charitable foundation (Leota Braun Charitable Foundation Inc.), the RockfordAlive website, street improvements, upgraded water and sewer systems, pending and proposed changes to the sewage plant, and other features help make Rockford very well positioned to take advantage of an improving economy.

The RADC hopes that you will enjoy the evening of April 25 in fellowship with your colleagues, friends, and neighbors and learn what the RADC has been “up to” since it was founded in 2006 and what lies ahead.
