VWCMA announces Good Friday service

The Community Good Friday Service, sponsored by the Van Wert County Ministerial Association, will begin at 12:05 p.m., this Friday, April 22, at First united Methodist Church in downtown Van Wert.

During the service, a special collection will be taken that day and sent to the churches of Van Wert’s Japanese sister city, Sumoto City, to be distributed in the areas most affected by the recent earthquakes.

“Sumoto City will surely welcome the offer, which signifies strong friendship between the two cities and your thought and prayer will be passed on to the people in affected area in tangible way,” said Midori Takeuchi, consul general of Japan in Detroit, Mich., by e-mail.

The Ministerial Association encourages all to attend this special program in recognition of the upcoming Easter holiday, and in support to Van Wert’s sister city.
