Dorothy Mae Vogelgesang

Dorothy Mae Vogelgesang, 86, was called to her heavenly home Wednesday, April 20, 2011.

She was born January 20, 1925, in Fort Wayne, Ind., to the late John and Helen (Steinbacher) Hermes.

Dorothy worked as a clerk for the Penn-Central Railroad for 38 years and was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.

Surviving are her children, Jerry (Patricia) Vogelgesang of Merrillville, Ind., Kenneth (Shelley) Vogelgesang of Fort Wayne, William (Sandra) Vogelgesang of Fort Wayne, Laura (Rev. Michael) Saylor of Convoy, Janet Mannia of Indianapolis, Ind., and Carol (James) Sprandel of Fort Wayne; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Ralph K. Vogelgesang, who died in 1983; daughters Susan and Joan Vogelgesang; and brothers, William, Robert and Paul, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Drive, Fort Wayne, with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.

There will also be calling hours from 5-8 p.m. Monday, April 25, at the church.
