Van Wert independent/OSU Alumni Club information

Ohio State women’s basketball head coach Jim Foster will visit Van Wert on Thursday, June 2, as part of the Ohio State Alumni Club of Van Wert/Paulding County’s annual spring dinner.

Doors open for the event at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6 that evening at the Van Wert Banquet Center, 1109 S. Shannon St. in Van Wert, next to Marsh Supermarket. The cost $18 per person and includes dinner, program, and door prizes.

Foster was head coach at Vanderbilt and St. Joseph’s (Pa.) before coming to Ohio State. During his coaching career he has posted more than 700 wins and his squads have made 26 postseason appearances. At Ohio State this includes nine consecutive NCAA tournaments and a rank in the national Top 10 in three of the last five seasons. In the 2007-08 seasons, Foster recorded his 650th career win, becoming the 13th women’s coach in Division I to win 650 games.

The club also conducts a food drive at the event to benefit food pantries in Van Wert and Paulding counties. Attendees are asked to bring a couple of non-perishable food items to the dinner.

Proceeds from the dinner aid in assisting students from Van Wert and Paulding counties attend The Ohio State University.

The Ohio State Alumni Club of Van Wert/Paulding is an affiliate of the Ohio State University Alumni Association.
