USA Today includes VW in national story

The Van Wert community got some national attention earlier this week when USA Today did a story on Ohio economic development efforts that included a Van Wert dateline and some information on the local 1,600-acre megasite.

The story, which talked about the $1.4 billion Ohio will invest this year in economic development, also discussed whether the state’s huge investment in development will result in significant economic development coming to the state.

The story talked about the fact that the Van Wert Jobs Ready Site is one of two large speculative industrial sites in the state, while adding that a smaller, 471-acre site is also being developed in the Wapakoneta area.

While the story did say it is unclear whether Ohio’s development efforts will pay off down the road, the national exposure for the local megasite should be a boon for local development efforts.
