A man with a lengthy criminal record is headed for prison following a hearing in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday.

Ford P. Wilson, 27, of Van Wert, was sentenced to 12 months in prison each on two counts of breaking and entering and one count of theft. All three of the sentences will run concurrently – at the same time. However, Judge Charles D. Steele also sentenced Wilson to a year in prison on a previous breaking and entering charge and that term will run on top of the other sentences.

Judge Steele cited Wilson’s lengthy prison record in finding that he was not amenable to community control.

Andrew Hammons, 23, of Van Wert, was sentenced to nine months in prison on a charge of possession of heroin after Judge Steele found he was also not amenable to community control. Hammons was arrested in September of last year as a result of a traffic stop by the Van Wert Police Department. Officers making the stop found Hammons was in control of heroin.

A man who pleaded guilty to assaulting a city police officer was given treatment in lieu of conviction during a hearing held Wednesday.

Christopher Adkins, 31, of Van Wert, entered the guilty plea in connection with an assault on Police Sgt. James Haggerty on December 2, 2010.

The following people also appeared for hearings on Wednesday in Common Pleas Court:

  • Nathaniel Thomas, 32, of Van Wert, was place on a year of community control on a charge of domestic violence, a misdemeanor of the first degree. As part of the sentence, Thomas was ordered to spend 60 days in jail, complete an anger management program and perform 100 hours of community control.
  • Bronson E. Pate, 29, of Convoy, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for a community control violation. According to the Van Wert County Adult Probation Department, Pate tested positive for the use of marijuana and heroin. Pate admitted using marijuana, but denied heroin use. Judge Steele gave Pate credit for 78 days served while awaiting sentencing.
  • Tyann N. Montalvo, 22, of Celina, had her bond revoked and ordered held without bond pending her sentencing hearing on May 18. Montalvo was out on bond on charges related to her being found in a mobile meth lab along U.S. 224 by troopers from the Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol when she was arrested by Celina police, along with two other people, for operating another mobile meth lab in Mercer County this month. Montalvo and Chad Bellis were sleeping in a semi tractor-trailer rig in Van Wert County in February when troopers investigated and discovered the meth lab. Bellis has already been sentenced to two years in prison on charges related to the manufacture of drugs. Montalvo is currently in the Mercer County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
  • Chad Diltz, 34, of Delphos, admitted to violating the terms of his personal surety bond, which was revoked by Judge Steele. Diltz violated the bond by failing to report as required to the county probation department. Diltz will remain in jail until his sentencing hearing on drug trafficking charges scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 11.
  • Ryan M. King, 25, of Van Wert, pleaded guilty to a charge of trafficking in heroin, a felony of the third degree, during a hearing held Wednesday. King allegedly sold heroin to an undercover agent working for the Van Wert Police Department. Judge Steele ordered a presentence investigation and scheduled sentencing for 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 8.
