Camera Club issues Fair reminder
By Rex Dolby
The Wassenberg Camera Club met Thursday, April 28, at the Art Center. President Jodi Hattery’s goal was to have key recommendations for the Wassenberg’s 34th annual October Photography Exhibit finalized for presentation to the Wassenberg Board later this month. She was able to achieve all three of these goals, which were: Finalize the club’s budget for the event, suggest the entry fees for members and nonmembers, and submit a statement about the appropriateness of the entries.
Speaking of entries, the deadline for entering the County Fair Photography Exhibit (Monday, August 2, at noon) is not that far away. Categories in color and black/white are: Van Wert County Fair, On the Farm, Silly Portraits, Night Time, and In Motion.
If you check the fair book online in Department Q for photography information, it is not current. Most of the rules will probably be continued, but the categories shown when we accessed it on May 1 were still last year’s list.
The club continues to sell its $5 Food Discount cards. The cards are good till April of 2012 in 20 area businesses for free or reduced priced food or beverages with a purchase. These businesses include 12 in Van Wert, two each in Delphos, Lima and Wapakoneta and one each in Ohio City and Celina.
The cards are available from Camera Club members and at the Wassenberg Art Center office. Anyone wanting more specific information about what the card provides may call 419.238.4545 or the Art Center at 419.238.6837.
The club’s next meeting will be Thursday, May 12, at 7 p.m. at Wassenberg Art Center, 643 S. Washington St. in Van Wert. “Flags” will be the theme for competition that evening.
