Detectives confiscate marijuana plants

Van Wert County Sheriff Stan D. Owens said Friday that 18 marijuana plants were recovered on Thursday following a tip from a concerned county resident. Sheriff’s Department detectives launched an investigation based on the tip, recovering the marijuana plants along railroad tracks in York Township near the village of Elgin.
The plants, when they matured, would be worth about $1,000 apiece. The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone having information regarding the marijuana plants is asked to call the Sheriff’s Department at 419.238.3866 or Crime Stoppers at 419.238.7867.
Sheriff Owens also noted that the May session of the Van Wert County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Jordan D. Vickery for failure to register a change of address with the Sheriff’s Department, as required for a sex offender. The charge, a third-degree felony offense, is the result of an investigation by Sheriff’s Department detectives.
