Clarence John Klausing
Clarence John Klausing of Van Wert passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2011, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born August 27, 1926, the son of the late Alyous J. and Margaret Matilda (Wurst) Klausing. On April 5, 1969, he married Jean Arlene (Bennett) Klausing, who survives at Vancrest Health Care Center in Van Wert.

Mr. Klausing worked at Borden’s Cheese or 40 years, then at Woodland Cemetery for 14 years. He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.
In addition to his current wife, there are three surviving children from his first marriage to the late Viola (Campbell) Schaffner: Robert E. Klausing, Linda Marie (Klausing) Mitchell, and Daniel Richard (Kelly) Klausing, all of Van Wert. Also surviving is a stepdaughter, Barbara Jean (Harrison) Arnold of Van Wert; a brother, Lavern H. (Lois) Klausing of Van Wert; 15 grandchildren, Kari (Clyde) Thatcher of Van Wert, Kelly Cheney of Convoy, Kristy (Klausing) Barnes of Columbus, Eric A. Metzger and Jason Mitchell of Van Wert, Frank (Klausing) Loske of Kansas City, Mo., Les (Ginger) Klausing of Thomasville, N.C., Dusty (Ashley) Klausing of Clearwater, Fla., Derek (Stephanie) Klausing of Landolakes, Fla., Danielle (Bradley) Barker of Van Wert, Calvin W. Hasty and Wesley J. Hasty, both of Wichita Falls, Texas, Jeannette (Steve) Hoehn of Fort Jennings, Tyla (Tony) Mason of Van Wert and Robert A. Arnold III of Ashville, N.C.; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Six brothers, Ervin, Ernest, Robert, Elmer, Paul and Fred Klausing, preceded him in death.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert, with Father Mike Zacharias officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.
Calling hours are from 3-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, at Brickner Funeral Home in Van Wert.
