Jeanne Worthington

Jeanne Worthington, 78, of Van Wert, died at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2011, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

She was born February 9, 1933, in Carpenter, Ky., the daughter of the late Karl Faulkner and Elizabeth Mays. On May 5, 1952, she married James Worthington Sr., who survives in Van Wert.

Other survivors include two sons, James V. (Mary Lou) Worthington Jr. of Convoy and Jerry S. Worthington of Van Wert; three daughters, Jeanna Lynn (Herman Eddins) Worthington, Janet (Robert L. Sr.) Galloway and Jill T. (Kurt) Leatherman, all of Van Wert; a sister, Dorothy (Joe) Fields of Lima; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren (and one due in September); and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Louise (James) Reeves of Urbana.

A brother, Curtis O’Neil Mays; and two daughters-in-law, Mary Louise (McVay) Worthington and Rosa Worthington, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, May 13, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dillon Staas officiating.

Calling hours are from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
