Knights earn state honors

Grueling hours of school work, going to school for an extra half hour, OAT testing, and AP test for high school students have all prepared students for their much-anticipated Fun Day event.  Fun Day is an afternoon of field games and class competition along with a chance to get out of the classroom and burn some energy.  The junior high fun day is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon and the high school’s is set for Monday.

Nick Bauer said “Fun day is a day that we actually get to go outside and out the classroom and have some fun playing against the other classes.”

Big news around for Crestview is the Knights’ agricultural students winning state honors.  The Farm Business Management team has finished second place in the state for the third year running.  The team consists of second place finisher Kelsie Preston, fifth place finisher Zack Schaadt, eighth place finisher Matt Holden, and ninth place finisher Josh Staten.  The placing that the students received is out of 340 students in the state.

Another award-winning team was the Ag Engineering team, finishing fourth in the state.  This team consisting of seventh place finisher Jordan Miller, fourteenth place finisher Calib Cunningham, and ninteenth place finisher Derek Bissonette who also received second in the state in the hands on competition.  These individuals placed out of 260 students in the state.

The Cooperatives team also got state honors with a third place finish.  These finishes are out of 285 students.  Leading the team was fifth place finisher Thomas Lichtensteiger, ninth place finisher Alex Brown, fifteenth place finisher Nick Dealey, and seventeenth place finisher Adam Schumm.  The finial state honor the Knights received is the Greenhand team.  Team members consisting of fifth place finisher Felix Hecht, eighth place finisher Lucas Gibson, thirteenth place finisher Jacob Germann, and fourteenth place finisher Scott Miller.  The placing for this competition is out of 1101 students in the state.

FFA adviser and ag teacher Mr. Pohlman commented, “I couldn’t be more pleased with the group of students. It takes a lot of work and dedication to get into the top five teams in the state and we happened to get four teams in the top five.  I am just ecstatic with the performance of all of my students and it takes a lot for them to study like they do.”

The elementary held a Kindergarten graduation Tuesday May 10.  Parents and family members were asked to come and watch the kids walk through and graduate from kindergarten.
