Peony Fest offers dining dates with queen

Van Wert Peony Festival aficionados who want to break bread with Queen Jubilee Mari Young will have not one, but two, chances to do so during this year’s festival.

Queen Mari and her court will be lunching at DeShia, 11830 U.S. 127 south of Van Wert, from noon-2 p.m. on Friday, June 3. Reservations can be made by calling 419.238.2271. Those attending the lunch can also enjoy the lovely gardens surrounding DeShia while lunching on the patio (weather permitting) or inside the Gathering Room.

On Saturday, June 4, join Queen Mari and her court for the Queen’s Tea at Willow Bend Country Club, 579 Hospital Drive. The tea will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Enjoy afternoon appetizers and entertainment provided by some of the queen candidates, while this year’s Flowers in Full Bloom are also honored.
