Edwin Dale Purk

Edwin Dale “ED” Purk, 83, of Van Wert, died at 3:50 a.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Van Wert County Hospital in Van Wert.

He was born May 5, 1928, in Allen County, Ind., the son of the late Harley O. and Agnes C. (Beauchot) Purk. On April 17, 1948, in Dixon, he married Ruth (Heath) Purk, who preceded him in death on August 25, 1990.

Survivors include two daughters, Bernita (Bill) Griner of Decatur, Ind., and Janet Purk of Van Wert; a sister, Betty (Eugene) Brown of Van Wert; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a stepgrandson; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home & Crematory in Van Wert, with the Rev. Paul W. Miller officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery in Convoy.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at the funeral home.
