Gertrude P. Fischer

Gertrude P. Fischer, 82, of Delphos, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

She was born February 18, 1929, in Delphos, the daughter of the late Leo and Alvera (Kroeger) Hotz. On June 5, 1948, she married Arthur L. Fischer, who survives in Delphos.

Other survivors include two sons, Dennis (Katherine) Fischer of Fort Wayne, Ind., and David (Michelle) Fischer of Delphos; two daughters, Marietta “Etta” (Steve) Schimmoeller of Delphos and Nancy Miller Ball of Lima; three sisters, Irma Warnecke of Fort Jennings, Connie (Robert) Warniment of Delphos, and Darlene (Jerry) Schmidt-Hover of Roanoke, Va.; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Ann Fuerst and Marietta Hotz, also preceded her in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos, with Father Melvin Verhoff officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Delphos.

Calling hours are from 2-8 p.m. Friday, June 3, at Harter and Schier Funeral Home in Delphos, where a parish wake will be held at 7:3o that evening.

Preferred memorials: Tuition Assistance Fund or a charity of donor’s choice.
