Man changes plea to drug possession

A Van Wert man changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of drugs during hearings held Tuesday in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court.

Justin R. Taylor, 25, entered the plea to a charge he had a Schedule III substance, Vicodin, in his possession on August 12, 2010, when he didn’t have a prescription for the drug. Taylor has two previous convictions for drug possession in 2005.

The man faces a maximum prison term of 12 months and a fine of up to $2,500 in connection with the charge, which is a fifth-degree felony offense.

Judge Charles D. Steele ordered a pre-sentence investigation in the case and scheduled sentencing for 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 20.
