Joseph Nicholas Campbell

Joseph Nicholas Campbell, 89, of Logan, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2011, at his residence after a brief illness.

Born December 3, 1921, in Union Township, Van Wert County, he was the son of the late William Mason and Blanche Elizabeth (Fox) Campbell.

Joe had retired from Logan Clay Products Company, was a former COBA technician and owner and manager of Campbell Cove Camping in Logan. Mr. Campbell was a staff sergeant who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the Eighth Air Force Historical Society and also a member of Second Air Division of the Eighth Air Force, Knights of Columbus Council 2299, Hocking Grange and St. John Catholic Church in Logan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marjorie Louise (Hartman) Campbell; four sons, William Lewis (Diana L.) Campbell of Logan, Joseph Michael Campbell of Reynoldsburg, Anthony Bruce (Tammy) Campbell of Van Wert and John Robert (Teena M.) Campbell of Pataskala; one daughter, Blanche Elizabeth “Beth” (Berry) Foster of Reynoldsburg; seven grandchildren, Michael William (Jackie) Campbell and Jeremy Todd Campbell, both of Logan, Alexander and Bryce Campbell, both of Van Wert, Kaylee (Nick) Unger of Reynoldsburg, Sgt. Kyle M. Campbell of Norfolk, Va., and Eric Foster of Reynoldsburg; and a great-grandson, Aaron Bush.

A great-granddaughter, Kadence Evelyn Campbell, also preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, at St. John Catholic Church in Logan, with Monsignor William A. Dunn officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Logan, with graveside military rites performed by the Hocking County Honor Guard.

Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at Roberts Funeral Home in Logan, where a Christian Vigil Service will take place at 3:30 that afternoon.
