Twig groups fulfill ER project pledge
The All-Twig Board of Van Wert Hospital has fulfilled a $50,000 pledge in support of the $6.8 million Emergency Services Department expansion.
The final installment, a check totaling $30,000, was presented on June 15. Since its formation, the Twig Association has raised more than $1 million in support of the hospital.
“Volunteers have always played an important role in this hospital,” said VWCH President/CEO Mark Minick. “We greatly appreciate their monetary contributions as well as their time and talents.”
The new Emergency Services Department was completed in June 2010. The 12,000 square-foot expansion, designed with the patient in mind, added 11 private emergency rooms, a secluded triage area and a covered entrance.
The Emergency Services Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and staffed by board-certified physicians. The staff treats emergencies ranging from minor to major trauma. Since opening, the Emergency Services Department has cared for nearly 16,000 patients.
An additional $2.4 million is still needed. To learn more about investing in the gift of health, call 419.238.8820 or email sdavis@vanwerthospital.org.
