Ethyl Estella Johnson
Ethyl Estella Johnson, 97, of Van Wert, died at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Hearth & Home of Van Wert.
She was born March 22, 1914, in Jackson Township, Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Daniel Webster and Rose (Drury) Shivley. On June 20, 1938, she married Walter James Johnson, who preceded her in death on March 20, 1962.
Survivors include two sons, Leonard R. (Cheryl) Johnson of Van Wert and Keith D. (Pamela) Johnson of Paulding; a daughter, Helen I. Dillon of Middle Point; three sisters, Helen Gehm of Wabash, Ind., Ladora Bolenbacher of Rockford and Edith (Lawrence) Hopkins of Bryan; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Three brothers, Emmett Shivley, Edward J. Shivley and Cleo Shivley; and four sisters, Zelma Cleota Rader, Ilo Pearl Stemen, Omah Verota Davis and Elnora Faye Mosier, also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, at Cowan & Son Funeral Home in Van Wert, with Pastor Neil Hammons officiating. Burial will be in Ridge Cemetery in rural Van Wert County.
Calling hours are from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 24, at the funeral home.
