Eagle Scout awarded

Van Wert Lodge 1197, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, participated in the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Robert W. Laing on June 20. Laing is a member of Boy Scout Troop 31, sponsored by the First United Methodist Church in Van Wert, and is the son of Dr. Kevin and Barb Laing. Laing’s Eagle Scout project was to purchase and install a flagpole at Rotary Park in Van Wert. The major part of the project was planning and installing the pole. The new Eagle Scout was presented an American flag and an Eagle Scout certificate from the Elks. Representing the Van Wert Lodge at the ceremony were Exalted Ruler Keith S. Rydell and Michael C.
