Legion post presents check to hospital

American Legion Post 178 recently presented Van Wert Hospital with a $2,500 check as an installment on the post’s $10,000 pledge in support of the Emergency Services Department expansion project.

Accepting the check on behalf of the hospital was Sherry Davis, investor relations director. “American Legion Post 178 has always been supportive of Van Wert Hospital,” said Davis. “We thank them for their commitment and dedication to the hospital and the Emergency Services Department expansion project.”

“We are proud of the good works we do in our community,” said American Legion Post 178 Financial Officer John Ruddock. In addition to supporting the hospital, Post 178 efforts are focused on assisting local veterans and youth through a variety of different programs.

Van Wert Hospital’s new Emergency Services Department was completed in June 2010. This 12,000 square-foot expansion added 11 private emergency rooms, a secluded triage area and a covered entrance. The Emergency Services Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Board certified physicians and staff treat emergencies ranging from minor to major trauma. Since opening, the Emergency Services Department has cared for nearly 16,000 patients. An additional $2.4 million is still needed.
