Leipsic woman killed in ATV accident

LEIPSIC — A Leipsic woman was killed as a result of an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) accident near that village on Sunday.

According to troopers from the Lima Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Brenda L. Schulte, 22,

and Brian J. Berger, 19, also of Leipsic, were westbound on Road B on a Suzuki ATV when the vehicle they were on veered off the right side of the road and hit a power pole, knocking both riders off. Schulte was pronounced dead at the scene from a representative of the Putnam County Coroner’s Office while Berger was taken to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima in critical condition.

The crash remains under investigation. Troopers were also assisted at the scene by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and the Leipsic Fire and EMS department.
