Man sentenced for domestic violence

Four people appeared in Van Wert County Common Pleas Court this morning, with one given a community control sentence on a charge of domestic violence.

Jose Sanchez, 33, of Van Wert was sentenced to a year of community control on a charge first-degree misdemeanor count of domestic violence. The charged was downgraded from a fourth-degree felony through a plea negotiation in exchange for his guilty plea.

The charge stems from a domestic incident that occurred May 9.

Judge Charles D. Steele also accepted two changes of plea during hearings held Wednesday morning.

April Diltz, 32, of Swanton and formerly of Van Wert, changed her plea to guilty to two counts of possession of drugs (heroin), both felonies of the fourth degree.

Diltz was arrested after she allegedly sold heroin to an undercover agent working for the West Central Crime Task Force in August 2010. The heroin sales took place in Van Wert.

Judge Steele ordered a presentence investigation and scheduled sentencing for 9 a.m. Wednesday, August 17.

Adrian I. Mileto, 27, of Van Wert, also changed her plea from not guilty and not guilty by reason of insanity to guilty to a charge of domestic violence. The charge was downgraded from a third-degree felony offense to a first-degree misdemeanor as part of a plea negotiation.

According to Van Wert police, Mileto assaulted her mother during a domestic dispute on March 24.

A presentence investigation was ordered and sentencing set for 9 a.m. Wednesday, July 30.

Also Wednesday, a sentencing hearing for Jeremy Rollins was continued until next week so that work information could be finalized.
