Miss Ohio coming home to Van Wert
This Friday’s concert in Fountain Park features The Fox Brothers from Nashville, Tenn. They are recognized by many Nashville music industry officials as America’s No. 1 Christian Country/Comedy group. As many national awards as they have won and as much as I think you will thoroughly enjoy them, there just may be someone else who could steal the hearts of Fountain Park this Friday night. That would be Sarah Evans Tackett, the lead female vocal in the warm-up band prior to the Fox Brothers.
Sarah is the daughter of Dick and Betty Evans, who live on Liberty Union Road in Van Wert. Sarah grew up in Van Wert and went on to become Miss Ohio in 1986. After marrying Jeff Tackett, she moved to Defiance and now works for Defiance College and sings with the family Gospel Band called The Tacketts. They will be opening for the Fox Brothers this Friday night. It seems to be the perfect match: The Tacketts and the Fox Brothers in a night of Southern and Country Gospel music, along with a lot of laughs.
Another good fit to the evening will be The Salvation Army serving a menu of delicious food and goodies out of the Rotary concession building. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy another gorgeous evening in Fountain Park in downtown Van Wert- The Music Capital of West Central Ohio.
The next two weeks will be filled with more music as Dwight Lenox & the Lenox Express bring Jazz and Classics to the park and then Gary Jenkins and Thundering Hearts follow the next week with more comedy and music, once again from Nashville, Tenn.
After another week off, we finish the summer in grand style with the very popular Gary Puckett and the Union Gap on August 12.
Plans for the opening of the NPAC 2011-12 Season are in the works. The opening concert is a huge concert that will involve the whole community as the Fort Wayne Philharmonic joins us to give tribute and honor those who perished on 9/11. Tickets for this 7 p.m. concert are now on sale. They can be obtained at the box office 419.238.6722 (NPAC) or online at www.npacvw.org.
There are so many facets and surprises in this concert that I don’t want anyone to miss out. Van Wert will remember and honor the 10th anniversary of September 11, 2001, like perhaps none other you will see. It will be a very special tribute!
Also, tickets for the popular Manhattan Transfer concert at the NPAC on September 17 just went on sale to the general public. The interest and demand for tickets have been very high and I wouldn’t wait too long on this one either. Grand Series and Select Series purchases have already created a good audience.
FINÉ.
