Cougar scrimmage, parents meeting set

The 2011 edition of Van Wert fall sports teams will be introduced during a football scrimmage between the Cougars and Coldwater Cavaliers on Friday, August 19, at Eggerss Stadium in Van Wert.

All fall Cougar high school sports teams will be introduced at 6:45 p.m. that day, with the scrimmage with Coldwater to begin at 7 p.m.

Van Wert Football Parents will operate a concession stand from a tent in the south end zone, according to Athletic Director Kent Smelser, which will provide supper for those who come early to the event.

The athletic director also said a parents meeting required by the Ohio High School Athletic Association will be held at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center of Northwest Ohio at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 4.

Parents of athletes involved in fall sports will meet with coaches of their individual sports, while parents of athletes who compete only in winter and spring sports can leave.
