Camp Clay OK’d for overnight camping
The YMCA of Van Wert County’s Camp Clay facility has now been certified by both the Girl Scouts of Northwest Ohio and Boy Scouts of America as an approved overnight camping area. Approval for this certification depends on showing proper insurance staff certifications and site accommodations and meeting their standards.

“We are excited to have met their qualifications and are proud to let the community know of the high quality outdoor experiences available here in Van Wert at Camp Clay,” stated Camp Clay Facilitator Clint Myers.
Camp Clay has approved swimming, canoeing, lodging, showers, bathroom and a grilling area. Team building initiatives, low and high ropes courses, a brand new Aqua Park, an 1837 hewn log cabin, self-guided nature trails, a nature center, pavilion, and paddle boating are among the facilities and activities available at Camp Clay.
Information about this and other programs available at the Van Wert YMCA’s Camp Clay facility can be found by calling Myers at 419.203.4232 or by visiting www.vwymca.org, with a video of Camp Clay on the site.
The YMCA of Van Wert County is partially funded by The Van Wert County Foundation and United Way of Van Wert County.
