William J. Hessler

William J. Hessler, 83, of Payne, died Monday, July 25, 2011, at the Country Inn Enhanced Living Center in Paulding.

He was born August 22, 1927, in Paulding, the son of the late John D. and Lucile Ann (Clark) Hessler. On November 29, 1952, he married Martha E. Snyder, who survives.

Other survivors include six children, David (Dawn) Hessler of Milan, Mich., Nancy Hessler, Janis Hessler and James Hessler, all of Fort Wayne, Ind., Michael (Deb) Hessler of Van Wert and John (Gina) Hessler of Payne; two sisters, Rose Mary Sharp of Rochester, Mich., and Marie Kilpatrick of Nashville, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A brother, John Hessler, and one sister, Christina Zuber, also preceded him in death.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish in Payne. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery in Payne, with graveside military rites performed by American Legion Post 297 in Payne.

Calling hours are from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding, where a Rosary service will take place at 8 that evening.
