Elmer Louis Johnson

Elmer Louis Johnson, 95, of Van Wert, died at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Van Wert Area Inpatient Hospice Center.

He was born December 1, 1915, in Liberty Township, Van Wert County, the son of the late Raymond E. and Emma Rosetta (Riedel) Johnson. On October 27, 1946, he married Ida Johannah (Schumm) Johnson, who preceded him in death on April 26, 2000.

Survivors include a sister, Mabel Shumaker of Van Wert; five nieces; and 11 nephews.

A brother, Ralph E. Johnson, who was killed in World War II, also preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 29, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy, with the Rev. Michael Saylor officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery in Van Wert.

Calling hours are an hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Preferred memorials: The Lutheran Hour or Redeemer Lutheran Church in Convoy.
