Fair fundraisers scheduled this weekend

The Van Wert Fair is having a craft/garage sale, plus an auction to support entertainment at future fairs on Friday and Saturday, August 12-13. The fundraisers are part of a goal to get the entertainment portion of the fair to be self-sufficient.

There will be spaces available for anyone that would like to participate in the craft/garage sale being billed as the “ Post 127 Sale.” Those interested in renting space can call Ann Marshall at 419.238.4551 or 419.203.7476. All proceeds from sale of booths go to the fair fund.

Craft/garage sale times will be 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. both days. On Saturday, starting at 10 a.m., there will be an auction in the Agriculture Building for entertainment. Donations from all kinds of organizations and individuals include signed sport items and other sports memorabilia, signed CDs, signed posters, gift certificates, tickets for zoos, Sauder Village and Bear Creek Farm, a charcoal grill, and health fitness certificates, Donations are from the surrounding area, not just Van Wert, with more items coming in daily. Bee Gee Reality will be the auctioneer.

Also this Saturday, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., there will be an Ultimate Air Dogs fundraiser — a barbecue chicken dinner catered by Gibson Barnyard BBQ. The price will be $7 and includes a quarter of a chicken, baked potato, pasta salad, and a slice of Texas sheet cake. Those purchasing the meals can dine at the fairgrounds or take them home.
