WREN — Once again, the time is nearly here for the Wren Homecoming celebration, and with it the Homecoming Parade. With the theme “A Community of Faith,” festival organizers have selected all Wren community churches as this year’s grand marshal.

“It is with great pride that we give honor to our area churches, who give without reserve to their communities, neighbors, and friends,” said Jackie Brandt, an organizer of the Wren Homecoming Parade. “In this time of difficult economic stress, and all that comes with such, we lean even harder on our faith and church families.”

The Wren Homecoming Parade will take place Saturday, August 20, starting at 4 p.m., in Wren. This year, as in most years, there is a huge line-up of parade units already, and time yet to go! Any individual or organization that wants to enter the parade can still do so by calling Brandt at 419.203.1924. If there is no answer, leave a message.

Wren Homecoming weekend has many events and activities for people to take part in, from Thursday evening through Saturday night. Don’t miss any of this time to talk, laugh and share with neighbors and family, and enjoy the pleasures that are unique to this small, hometown community.

Those who get a little hungry while sharing in those events and activities, can attend the Wren Fire & EMS Pancake and Sausage Breakfast from 7-11 a.m. at the fire station. Cost of the breakfast is that of a donation. During the day, take a stroll down to the park to the food shack to quench that hunger and thirst, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and activities in Moser Park — or just sit at a picnic bench and enjoy the shade.
