Jr. Fair king, queen candidates announced
Van Wert independent/Junior Fair information
The Van Wert County Junior Fair Board has released the 2011 king and queen candidates for the 2011 Van Wert County Fair. The coronation ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, September 1, in the Entertainment Tent on the fairgrounds.
KING
Nathan Profit
Nathan is the son of Eric and Jenni Profit is a senior at Van Wert High School. He is a member of Ridge Buckeyes and Junior Leaders 4-H clubs and has held officer positions in both clubs. Nathan has qualified for State Fair twice with his projects.
Nathan is a member of the Van Wert High School Cougar Pride Marching and Concert bands, where he plays percussion. He attends Trinity Friends Church in Van Wert and is a member of the church youth group. Nathan is employed at Main Street Market and plans on joining the U.S. Navy after graduation.
QUEEN
Bethany Army
Bethany is the daughter of Lynn and Pat Army and Susan Slagle. Bethany is a senior at Lincolnview High School, where she is vice president of her class, president of her school FFA chapter, president of the National Honor Society and president of the Spanish Club. She is also a post-secondary student at Rhodes State College. Bethany is also a member of Beta Club, and Science Club and is also on the Lincolnview varsity volleyball team.
Bethany has been in 4-H for eight years and served as president of the horse club for two years; she is also a member of the National Reining Horse Association. She is currently a 4-H ambassador and a member of Junior Fair Board.
Bethany is a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church, and also attends St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert.
Lauren Buchanan
Lauren is the daughter of Louise Buchanan and is a senior at Parkway High School. She has been involved in 4-H for nine years and is currently active in Interstate Exchange, Junior Leaders, has been a camp counselor, and a member of CarTeens, in which she has completed and won many awards at the county, region, and state levels. Lauren also represents Van Wert County as an ambassador at both the county and state levels.
In school, Lauren takes part in basketball, track and field, Art Club, Foreign Language Club, National Honor Society, band, and is a Friends of Rachel mentor.
At church, she enjoys leading and participating in youth group activities and, in her spare time, gives back to her community through a variety of service projects.
After high school, Lauren plans to attend college and obtaining a degree in broadcast journalism.

Meagan Hempfling.
Meagan is the daughter of Chuck and Sue Hempfling. She is a senior at Delphos St. John’s High School, where she is involved in Junior Optimist Club, mission society, Crespi Society, and is a cheerleader. She is also a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Delphos. Meagan is also very involved in dancing.
While in 4-H she has participated in 4-H ambassadors, Junior Fair Board, interstate exchange program, and was a camp counselor.
After high school, Meagan plans to attend Ohio State University in Lima and pursue a career as a veterinary technician.
Morgan Pugh
Morgan is the daughter of Bob and Denise Pugh. She is a senior at Spencerville High School where she has participated in volleyball, track, and basketball. She is an honor student and scholar athlete, a member of Spanish Club and Varsity S Club and a library and teacher’s aide.
She is a member of Salem Presbyterian Church and youth group in Venedocia. Morgan is a 10-year member of the Venedocia Lads and Lassies 4-H club and participated in buckeye ambassadors and camp counselor, and also takes dairy cattle to the fair. She is currently employed at subway in Spencerville and in her spare time enjoys reading, spending time with her friends and 4-H. After high school Morgan plans to attend college to pursue a career in Physical Therapy.
Abby Richey
Abby is the daughter of Patrick Richey and Summer Vettori. She is representing Lincolnview FFA where she is currently the chapter secretary. Abby is also involved in the Leaders of the Future 4-H club.
At school she is in Spanish Club, Science Club, and Beta Club.
Abby attends St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Van Wert and is active in the youth group.
After high school Abby plans to attend Rhodes State College to become a physical therapy assistant. After attending Rhodes State she plans to further her education at the University of Findlay and become a physical therapist.
Kim Schnipke
Kim is the daughter of Alan and Vicki Schnipke. She recently graduated from Delphos St. John’s this past year, where she was on the basketball team.
She is also a church greeter and Eucharistic minister.
Kim has been in 4-H for nine years, taking various projects, including cooking, miscellaneous, rabbits, beef breeding, market steers, and market hogs.
Kim plans to attend Wright State University in Dayton this fall and pursue a degree in marketing.
